What would a world without freewill actually look like?

Freewill is often used by Christians as part of apologetic arguments. The problem of evil for example – God doesn’t prevent evil in the world because it would interfere with our freewill.

But what exactly would be a world without freewill look like? “Robots” is the normal vague suggestion – but what does that mean in practice? If you didn’t have freewill how would your life be different? Would we still think? Would your choices be made by an external entity? You’d be some sort of puppet. Then wouldn’t that entity be you? And wouldn’t that entity have freewill?

Are there entities that don’t have freewill? – animals, angels, devils, God himself? Did God give us freewill? If so, how did that work?
