Could the OT laws have been improved upon?
“Keep my decrees. “‘Do not mate different kinds of animals. “‘Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. “‘Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.” (Leviticus 19:19)
God didn’t want you to wear mixed fabrics, mate different animals or plant two seeds in the same field.
Could God have used this patch of the bible for a better commandment or two? Something that could have better helped humankind?
How about wash your hands after using the toilet? How about never rape anyone? What about “Thou shalt not own another human being”? How about never hurt another living creature? Be interesting to see how the world would have turned out if that had been a commandment.
These would seem to be a better way of promoting wellbeing in his creation. But perhaps he had a different goal in mind?
